⚠️ Essential Safety Tips Before Starting:

  • Always perform these exercises in a safe place, preferably seated in a firm chair or near a wall/support if standing.
  • Mild, brief dizziness during exercise is normal—this is how your brain adapts and compensates.
  • Stop immediately and contact your doctor if you experience severe spinning, fainting, chest pain, or sudden weakness.
Structured Progression

The 4 Stages of Vestibular Recovery

Practice each stage 2 to 3 times daily as guided by Dr. Girish S.

STAGE 1 👀

Eye & Gaze Stabilization

Retrains the Vestibulo-Ocular Reflex (VOR) to keep your vision steady while your head is in motion.

• Eye movements: Left & Right (10 reps)
• Eye movements: Up & Down (10 reps)
• Focus on a moving target (pen/finger)
STAGE 2 🔄

Head Movement & Habituation

Helps your brain adapt to head rotation, changing body positions, and gravitational shifts.

• Head turning left & right
• Head nodding up & down
• Bend forward & return
• Sit to lie down transitions
STAGE 3 🚶‍♀️

Balance & Walking Exercises

Rebuilds stability in daily locomotion and reduces unsteadiness when walking outside.

• Standing balance: Feet together (eyes open/closed)
• Standing balance: One leg stance
• Walking with head turns left/right
• Walking with head nodding up/down
STAGE 4 🧗‍♀️

Advanced & Functional Balance

Challenges the proprioceptive and visual systems for full return to routine activities.

• Tandem walking (heel-to-toe)
• Step up and down

Doctor’s Clinical Note

Still Experiencing Sudden Room Spinning When Turning in Bed?

While rehabilitation exercises retrain general balance, acute BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) requires diagnostic positional testing and targeted Canalith Repositioning Maneuvers (Epley’s Maneuver) by a trained specialist for immediate relief.

Consult Dr. Girish S at ENTCARE Allergy & Balance Clinic (Chaithram Clinic, Ayravon P.O., Konni) for specialized balance diagnostics without long hospital queues.
